What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative medicine is a holistic approach that combines modern medical care with evidence-based complementary therapies, along with lifestyle and dietary guidance. The goal is to not only relieve symptoms but also address the root cause of your health concerns.

What happens during a consultation?
Integrative medicine focuses strongly on prevention and understanding the bigger picture of your health. That’s why appointments are usually longer than a typical GP visit. Your doctor will ask detailed questions about your symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and medical history. A physical examination will be done if needed, and together you’ll develop a personalised treatment plan.

Will I need any tests?
In some cases, tests are helpful to better understand what’s causing your symptoms. These may include blood tests, urine or stool tests, or imaging such as an X-ray or ultrasound. Many of these tests are fully or partially covered by Medicare.

Some specialized tests—like food intolerance testing or detailed gut health analysis—are called functional pathology tests. These aren’t covered by Medicare. They’re offered through BeFunctional Labs, part of Australian Clinical Labs.

What kind of treatment will I receive?
Treatment plans are tailored to your needs and often include nutrition and lifestyle changes. In some cases, medications or supplements—either nutritional or herbal—may be recommended to support your health and recovery.

How much does it cost?
Costs vary depending on the length of your appointment, any tests required, and the treatment plan recommended. A new patient consultation starts at $300.00, with Medicare rebates available for valid Medicare card holders. See our Pricing & Fees tab for more information.
